About Us

Central Pierce Staff

With the many different experiences our management staff brings to the program, your child will get the most of what Engineering For Kids offers in a fun and exciting environment. Our experiences come from many different technology and engineering areas which include electrical (Intel Corp.), mechanical (Intel Corp.), aeronautical (US Navy carrier based aircraft and private pilot) and civil. We also have experience in marketing and office management.

Our educational backgrounds come from areas which support the experience we have to include degrees and certificates in electrical engineering, Microsoft Operating Systems, internet protocols and business.

Also, having two elementary children of our own, we get a great perspective on what interests the kids today and what gets them excited about engineering and technology. We are active in our schools and are part of our school's PTA and Watch D.O.G.S. program.

Our teachers are carefully selected and we search for those that share the passion of presenting our S.T.E.M. activities in a fun exciting way. Your child having fun experiencing the different exciting aspects of engineering and technology in a challenging meaningful way is paramount to our teaching staff selection. The teachers should be having just as much fun presenting to our students as our students have attending our sessions.

All lead and co-lead instructors are required to be CPR and First Aid certified for infants, children and adults.

Owner/Operator, Tom Alpert See more about Tom and colleague recommendations

Tom Alpert worked at Intel Corporation for 19 years. Most recently as a Senior Design Engineer on Server and Desktop processors for Intel. Tom received BS in Business/eBusiness from University of Phoenix, has an AS in Electrical Engineering Technology from Pierce College and also performed engineering course work at Arizona State University.  Tom is CPR and First Aid certified for infants, children and adults.
Tom has experienced the need for additional avenues for kids to get excited about the engineering fields with having 2 children of his own in elementary school. Providing meaningful education to our next generation, such as S.T.E.M, is extremely important. Also, he can relate to Dori Robert's (CEO of EK Franchising) experiences in fostering the wonderment of why things work and how they were designed in children. He is excited to be able to provide our next generation of engineers an avenue to gain confidence in their abilities, know that failure is only another step in the process of learning and with persistence and perseverance, kids can accomplish nearly anything while having fun along the way.
