Junior Chemical Engineering: CRAZY CONCOCTIONS!

Ages 4-7, $119 per student for 6 week program

LET’S GET CRAZY!!! The Junior Chemical Engineering classes introduce our youngest engineers to fundamental concepts of solids, liquids, and solutions. Students investigate the properties of several crazy concoctions and make their own samples of bubbles, play dough, and more.

Marine Engineering: MAKING WAVES!

Ages 8-14, $129 per student for 6 week program

BARGES, SAILBOATS, POWER BOATS and more! During the Marine Engineering classes, students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine several types of marine based devices and vehicles. Students construct working prototypes that teach and reinforce the concepts of above water transportation, underwater exploration, and harnessing the power of water. They gain exposure to careers in naval, ocean, and marine engineering as well as naval architecture.

Aerospace Engineering: Up, Up and Away!

Ages 8-14, $129 per student for 6 week program

THE ENGINEERING OF FLIGHT! During the Aerospace Engineering classes, students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine a variety of flying machines. They construct a shock absorbing system designed to protect two marshmallow astronauts in a lunar vehicle, create their own air-powered rockets, and explore neutral buoyancy blimps!

Aerospace Engineering: Rockets! (One Day Workshop)

Ages 8-14, $30 per student

Learn the basics of rockets. Understand the properties of flight and how they can be modified to propel a rocket. Investigate the overall design components of a rocket, including the nose cone and fin, play a role in the rocket’s trajectory and distance traveled.

Mechanical Engineering: Catapaults (One Day Workshop)

Ages 8-14, $129 per student for 6 week program

LEARN TO MAKE A MEDIEVAL MACHINE USING CANDY! The catapult activity will provide a basic knowledge of how and why catapults were first created. Students will build a simple catapult using a spoon to power their candy projectile. Students will also explore the mechanics of catapults in order to increase precision and accuracy.

PLATFORM GAME DESIGN!! Students will use Multimedia Fusion 2® to create their own video game. A platform game is a side-scrolling, Mario-type game where students program characters and a two-dimensional obstacle course. They attempt to avoid or overcome enemies and reach an end goal on multiple levels. At the end of the class, students take home a copy of the game they create.
