Junior Aerospace – Taking to the sky

EFK_Burnaby_AfterSchool_JuniorAerospace

The Junior Aerospace Engineering classes introduce our youngest engineers to fundamental concepts of aircraft and spacecraft design. Through open and focused exploration, students explore and construct airplanes, rockets, helicopters, and more. Students will discover the forces that make airplanes, helicopters, and rockets sophisticated flying machines. They will learn foundational concepts in aerospace engineering, such as propulsion, lift, thrust, and trajectory, while tackling exciting, hands-on engineering challenges using the EFK Engineering Design Process. When it comes to inspiring the next generation of engineers, the sky is the limit!

Mechanical-Junior Inventor Workshop

EFK_Burnaby_AfterSchool_JuniorInventorWorkshop

Unleash your imagination, as you tinker and invent a variety of mechanical gadgets! In this camp, children become mechanical engineers as they learn to use gears and other components to make machines move. Each day, children will learn new concepts and engineering-related vocabulary using colorful picture books and by completing exciting, hands-on engineering challenges following EFK’s Engineering Design Process. Students will become true inventors and leave camp with a take-home project that will inspire them to continue inventing long into the future.

Civil engineering-Fun Foundation

EFK_Burnaby_AfterSchool_FunFoundation

Get ready to raise the skyline as we learn all about the exciting field of civil engineering. This camp will teach students the foundations of civil engineering as they explore concepts, such as tension and compression, structurally strong geometric shapes, and the importance of a strong foundation and core. Each day students will use the EFK Engineering Design Process to take on captivating challenges that lay the groundwork for understanding the essential principles of structural design and construction.

Junior Mission to Mars

EFK_Burnaby_AfterSchool_MissionToMars

Our Junior Engineers will be inspired by Mars-themed children’s literature featured in this week of camp. The stories will deepen their knowledge and spark their imaginations as they engage in hands-on engineering challenges using EFK’s Engineering Design Process. In the stories and challenges, students will explore various topics in science, as well as mechanical, aerospace, geologic, and environmental engineering.

Dig for Dinos

EFK_Burnaby_AfterSchool_DiggingForDinos

There has been an amazing discovery! Paleontologists have just uncovered a million-year-old dig site that is Full of Fossils! These Fossils include dinosaur bones, imprints, eggs, and more! Your help is needed to excavate these Fossils and move them to museums For kids all over the world to learn about. In these lessons, students will learn about engineering, mathematics, dinosaurs and Fossils, while advancing their literacy skills through a variety of read alouds. They will work as paleontologists and engineers while using the EFK, Engineering Design Process to design and build solutions to a variety of engineering challenges.

EFK_Burnaby_AfterSchool_JuniorPowerAndEnergy

Jr Power and Energy

In the Engineering of Power and Energy, join us as we look at ways to get things moving…no batteries required. In this camp, students explore the foundational concepts of potential and kinetic energy by building their very own toys. Additionally, students will explore natural power and energy sources such as falling water and the sun. Get ready for a shock in this energetic and engaging engineering experience!
