We make science, technology, engineering, and math come alive through interactive classes and camps designed for young minds. Our programs spark creativity and build confidence while teaching real-world engineering concepts. You’ll discover a variety of programs – from designing skylines and exploring foundations in civil engineering to learning about NASA’s Mission to Mars. Our in-person classes are available in Bowmanville, Claremont, Oshawa, Pickering, and Whitby.

Chem Kids – Junior Chemical Engineering
Spark your child’s curiosity and ignite their passion for science with an unforgettable journey through the captivating world of chemical engineering. Through playful activities and creative experiments, they’ll unravel the mysteries of matter. From fizzing chemical reactions to dazzling color changes, they’ll delight in the magic of transformation as they learn about atoms, molecules and the forces that drive these reactions. Learning about chemical engineering has never been more fun!

Up, Up and Away – Aerospace Engineering
Blast-off or adventure in this exciting class of aerospace engineering. Students will learn about the Forces of Flight and the mechanical components of airplanes, rockets, helicopters, and landing gear. They will explore concepts such as inertia, propulsion, lift, thrust, drag, gravity, and trajectory. Students will apply the EFK Engineering Design Process as they soar through inspiring hands-on engineering challenges. Join us for this fun-filled, high-flying adventure.

Fun Foundations – Junior Civil Engineering
Get ready to raise the skyline as we learn all about the exciting field of civil engineering. This class will teach students the foundations of civil engineering as they explore concepts such as tension and compression, structurally strong geometric shapes, and the importance of a strong foundation and core. Students will use the EFK Engineering Design Process each week to take on captivating challenges that lay the groundwork for understanding the essential principles of structural design and construction. This class will surely tower above the rest and inspire the next generation of engineers.

High Voltage Hijinks – Electrical Engineering
Get powered up for an energizing class in electrical engineering! In these sessions, you will learn how to generate power using electromagnets, electrical circuits, wind turbines, and solar panels. You will take on exciting, hands-on engineering challenges and put your creations to the test using the EFK Engineering Design Process. This is an illuminating experience you won’t want to miss!

Missions & Mechanics – Mechanical Engineering
This week of camp is all about the missions and mechanics of NASA’s Mars Rovers. Students will look at how the rovers safely land at carefully selected sites on the surface of Mars to conduct scientific investigations. They will also closely examine the anatomy, tools, and technology the rovers are equipped with to understand how their work continues to deepen our understanding of the Red Planet. Each day, classes will use EFK’s Engineering Design Process to engage in exciting, hands-on STEM challenges with real-world connections to NASA and mechanical engineering.

This course will surely spark children’s imagination and ignite their curiosity about the future and Mars exploration.

Master Machines – Mechanical Engineering
Gear up for an exciting week of mechanical engineering in this class. Students will explore several mechanical forces that create movement in various machines. Students will work as mechanical engineers using EFK’s Engineering Design Process to create exciting, hands-on projects that spin, cascade, launch, pivot, dig and race. These projects will demonstrate fascinating concepts, such as hydraulics, friction, velocity, aerodynamics, acceleration and mechanical advantage.

Rescue Bots – Aerospace & Master Robotic Engineering
Welcome to the Rescue Bot Operations Center, where robots have fun, compete, and go on exciting adventures. In this program, students will use the EFK Engineering Design Process to take on a variety of rescue missions using the LEGO® Spike Prime robotics kit. Students will learn to build robots and use block coding to design a route through earthquake rubble, rescue a snowmobile from an avalanche, search a trail for lost hikers, and much more!

Junior Inventors Workshop
Unleash your imagination as a tinker and invent various mechanical gadgets in this class. Children become mechanical engineers as they learn to use gears and other components to make machines move. In each class, children will learn new concepts and engineering-related vocabulary using colourful picture books and by completing exciting hands-on engineering challenges following EFK’s Engineering Design Process. Students will become actual inventors and leave camp with a take-home project that will inspire them to continue inventing long into the future.

RoboGames with LEGO Spike Prime
A place where robots can have fun, compete and go on exciting adventures. In this class, students will build their own robot using the LEGO Spike Prime robotics kit. They will learn the basics of block coding and learn to wire and program touch sensors, colour sensors, and distance sensors. Finally, they will use the EFK Engineering Design Process to complete exciting, carnival-themed challenges and competitions.
